New Puppy Feeding Guide
Congratulations on your new fur baby!
At Grateful Dachsunds, our dogs are our family and we are passionate about their nutrition.
We have had wonderful results with free feeding. This means, offering your puppy a continuously filled bowl of kibble.
Free feeding can be helpful in preventing food aggression, gulping air when eating and overeating issues, but doesn't work for all dogs.
If you got your puppy from us, they have been free fed and we suggest continuing this when bringing them home. Offer a full bowl of kibble at all times, with a little water added and a fresh supply of water for puppy to access whenever they need.
If your puppy comes from another breeder or a rescue, than you can still try free feeding with the approval of your veterinarian.
We aren’t affiliated with any of these food brands, but we have done our research. We know there are a lot of options out there, but we have sought out clean and wholesome products for our babies and want to share what we have learned with you.
Our Favorite Food: Fromm Gold Puppy
Kibble, dry or mixed with some water or goat’s milk
As your puppy grows, consider supplementing with raw and whole foods. Start with a very small bite of a new food and slowly increase as your puppy tolerates it well. This is fun and nutritious for your baby. Consult with your vet for nutrition advice.
